This will be a studio oriented class to expose students to a variety of media and techniques in a survey of art. Students will study art history, the elements and principles of design, and color theory. Some of the media that will be explored include graphite, charcoal, pastel, paint, clay, wire, plaster, and many more. Other topics that this class will emphasize include artistic critique, aesthetics, concept development, creative problem solving, and craftsmanship. This course will help students to learn to communicate their ideas about art and learn to take artistic risks.
