Art 1 is a studio oriented class to expose students to a variety of media and techniques in a survey of art. Students will study art history, the elements and principles of design, aesthetics, and contemporary art. Some of the media that will be explored include graphite, charcoal, pastel, paint, clay, wire, plaster, and many more. Other topics that this class will emphasize include artistic critique, aesthetics, concept development, research, the history of art, and craftsmanship. This course is designed to give students a broad base of knowledge which will prepare them for more advanced art courses.
