This class will expose students to a survey of painting. Students will be introduced to a variety of painting techniques and media. Students will study color theory, composition, abstraction, brush technique, and other aspects of painting. They will continue learning about art criticism, aesthetics, history, and culture. Students will develop their skills, concentrating on expression and craftsmanship. Students will be required to write and talk about their work as well as their peer’s artwork. Students will be required to do research on artists, art periods, and techniques of painting.
